COVID Safety at Writing NSW
Writing NSW is committed to keeping our community safe. We have a range of COVID safety measures in place. As a visitor to the building, you are required to follow all COVID safety measures. These may change in response to changing circumstances so please check this page for updates.
Feeling sick? Close contact?
If you are feeling unwell and experiencing any COVID-related symptoms, or if you are a close contact of somebody with COVID, you must stay at home. If you’re registered for an event or course with us, please contact us to let us know that you won’t be attending.
Feeling sick while in the building
If you experience symptoms of COVID while in the Writing NSW building, please immediately put on a mask, let someone know you are leaving, and vacate the premises promptly.
Hygiene
Hand sanitiser is available throughout the building. Additional cleaning procedures are in place.
Ventilation
Writing NSW has HEPA air purifiers in the Patrick White Room, Judith Wright Room, and Henry Lawson Room, as well as the library and office. All in-person courses are in rooms with air purifiers. For all other rooms, it is recommended that windows are opened to increase ventilation in the space.
Online courses, activities, and events
We have several opportunities for those who would prefer to stay home. Writing NSW offers a large suite of online courses including short courses, long courses and on-demand courses. We also have manuscript assessments and mentorships that can be conducted virtually. We have a dedicated Zoom account available to writing groups who choose to meet online. Our monthly First Friday event series is an online conversation with an industry professional and is open to our Writing NSW community.
