Writing Groups: Fiction
Back to all writing groupsNovel Writing Group
Novel Writing Group has been meeting for over 12 years, coming together at a writing class in 2005. We are now close friends who all share the creative desire. We aim to keep working at it as the challenges are enormous. We hope one day one or more of us will be published.
NSW Children’s Writing Group
This group provides a forum for critiques, discussion and brainstorming of members’ work, providing a sounding board for ideas, with the aim of becoming published authors. We are a committed group covering a diverse range of children’s and YA fiction genres.
Open Genre Writers’ Group
Rebel Writers
We met during the Fiction Feedback course in 2018 and have continued to work together. We meet once a month to workshop our material so that we may produce the best quality of writing we can.
Scripto Libris
Scripto Libris is a spin-off writers’ group from Alan Mills’ year-long novel writing course. We are highly motivated and goal focused to produce our best quality writing across a variety of genres. We aim to encourage and support each other along each of our writing journeys.
Seize the Day
A long-standing group formed in 2000, we are small in size, which allows for in-depth work on each member’s writing at each meeting. Members of this group write in different areas: historical fiction, detective fiction, short stories, poetry and memoir. We work hard to support each other as we try to bring long projects to fruition, and some of our members have achieved publishing success. Seize the Day writers include several published authors, as well as the winner of the 2019 Stella Prize and the winner of the 24th Scarlet Stiletto Short Story Award. Unfortunately we are currently not taking new members.
Shellharbour Writers
SIRIUS
SIRIUS is a writers’ group for writers of speculative fiction (fantasy, sci-fi and horror). We meet to critique each other’s work and support each other as writers.
Small Good Things
A short story writing and appreciation group who aim to develop skills in authoring short stories.
