Newport Writers

Group is open to published and unpublished fiction writers of all genres. Hoping to draw writers from the northern end of the Peninsula, Mona Vale to Palm Beach, but also happy to see others willing to travel here. Read an extract of your work aloud for praise, constructive comment and suggestions. Be willing to listen to others and engage with their work also. The aim is for the group to be motivational (encouragement to keep writing), friendly, and conducive to skill development. Please apply if you can commit to coming to most of the meetings. *Group is currently at capacity, but interested writers can email the convenor to join the waitlist.

Novel Writing Group

Novel Writing Group has been meeting for over 12 years, coming together at a writing class in 2005. We are now close friends who all share the creative desire. We aim to keep working at it as the challenges are enormous.  We hope one day one or more of us will be published.

Open Genre Writers’ Group

An eclectic but committed group of aspiring authors of all levels of publishing experience, working in a wide range of genres. Biographical memoir, Sci Fi / Fantasy, poetic verse, and many more may be heard on any given night. Our members are as diverse as our work, with ages ranging from twenty-three to eighty-three. We aim to help each other develop our craft and reach our writing goals through honest feedback, incisive suggestions, and cups of tea. This group is open to anyone who is comfortable reading work aloud for an audience of receptive and supportive peers, followed by open robust discussion. All types of writing and experience levels welcome.

Seize the Day

A long-standing group formed in 2000, we are small in size, which allows for in-depth work on each member’s writing at each meeting. Members of this group write in different areas: historical fiction, detective fiction, short stories, poetry and memoir. We work hard to support each other as we try to bring long projects to fruition, and some of our members have achieved publishing success. Unfortunately we are currently not taking new members.
