Introducing you to the most popular social media platforms, Zena Shapter will guide you through the minefield that is social networking… from a writers’ perspective.

Learn how to use the internet to promote your writing, connect with other writers, find inspiration and information online. Talking about the unstated rules of online engagement, Zena will show you how to build your online writing profile and have you itching to get started!

With group discussions, terminology updates, individual and team exercises, this dynamic interactive workshop covers:

You will leave this workshop with a practical understanding of the most prominent forms of social media currently used by writers, fans, editors and publishers; as well as a clear idea of which form suits you best and the key steps you’ll need to develop your online presence.

It is ideal for any writer who thinks they ought to get online, but aren’t sure how. No prior knowledge is required.

Food
Tea and coffee making facilities will be provided. Course participants are advised to bring their own lunch as there are no cafes within easy walking distance.

About the tutor
Zena Shapter
is a British-Australian fiction writer based in Sydney. She has won multiple awards for her short stories, including first place in the 2012, 2011 and 2010 FAW Manly & Peninsula Short Story Competitions and first place in the 2012 and 2011 Oberon Writing Competitions. She has been published internationally, in anthologies in the UK, the US and Australia, including the 2012 Award Winning Australian Writing (Melbourne Books). She has a BA (Hons) in English Literature from the University of Birmingham, England; is the author of a legal volume published by CCH Australia (on intellectual property); has had her writing studied at university; and recently received an Honourable Mention from the international Writers of the Future contest. When not writing, Zena leads the widely attended Northern Beaches Writers’ Group; blogs about contemporary book culture; and enjoys meeting fans, writers and readers through her website and social media such as Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and Goodreads.
