HSC English Ext 2 Radio Writing

A Manual for Teachers and Students by Timothy Daly

This book is the most comprehensive book available on the specialised techniques of radio play writing. Also includes a chapter on story structure, stylistic & formal options, full script examples and advice on the page layout of the radio script.

This kit has been designed, after years of working with hsc writers, to help you get started on your scriptwriting project and make it a fantastic work of imagination— and one that gets the mark it deserves!

Each section is self-contained, but whatever form (radio, film etc) that you’re doing you probably should have a look at the first section, on ‘story’, as it’s sure to give you ideas about story and plot (that is, how and when you tell your story).

Timothy Daly is a writer, teacher and dramaturg (script advisor & editor), with numerous national and international productions of his plays. These include Kafka Dances, (a winner of 13 national and international awards), Livingstone, Complicity, and The Private Visions of Gottfried Kellner, which won the 2000 Australian Writers’ Guild Awgie for Best Australian Play. His radio plays have been broadcast in seven countries. His last radio play, Outlanders (written with Peter Garrett) won the 1998 Awgie for Best Radio Play. His book The Techniques of Playwriting was published in 2006.
