Our next First Friday Club meeting falls on Friday 4 October and features Hazel Lam, Senior Book Designer at HarperCollins Australia.

Hazel, whose breathtaking designs have earned her the titles of 2018 Emerging Designer of the Year and 2019 Book of the Year (for The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart), has designed covers and internals for an impressive range of fiction, non-fiction, illustrated books, YA and children’s picture books. Working alongside authors, illustrators and other creatives, recent titles Hazel has worked on include Sarah Barrie’s Devils Lair, Nicola Moriarty’s The Ex, the 100th anniversary slipcase edition of May Gibbs’ Complete Adventures of Snugglepot and Cuddlepie, and Emily Rodda’s His Name is Walter, alongside many others. She’s also a beautiful painter and illustrator in her own right.
