Do you need a quiet place to write?
Sometimes it can be hard to find a quiet space to write – away from family, internet and the distractions of home. Our writing rooms are situated in Sydney in the beautiful and peaceful Garry Owen House in Callan Park, Lilyfield, and are a great place to go to find that much-needed quiet and concentration.

There are two writing spaces available for members to book in our building:
The Members’ Thursday Writing Retreat is a weekly opportunity at Writing NSW for members to find a quiet place to write, stripped of the noise and interruptions of the home that so often eat into writing time. The Patrick White Room is set up as a mini writing studio, with ample desks and chairs for everyone to have their own space. If a break is needed, the beautiful grounds of Callan Park beckon. Make a tea or coffee, grab a snack, and meet fellow writers to share stories and inspiration. The Members’ Thursday Writers Retreat is open from 10:00am to 4:00pm every Thursday. Note: This opportunity is only open to members of Writing NSW. Bookings are not required. Members must sign in on entry. More on the monthly weekend Write-ins is available here.
Members' Thursday Writing Retreat (drop-in)
Use of our casual writing room is a members-only service and there is no cost involved. Simply contact us to see if a room is available, book it for the day and spend time focusing on your project. This service is only available during office hours. Bookings are essential. Note: this service is strictly short-term and spaces may only be booked one week ahead of time.
Casual Writing Room (short-term)
Writing NSW has a dedicated writers’ space for hire by up to four writers. You will share the space with other writers in a peaceful, quiet location overlooking the greenery of Callan Park. With your own desk area available 7 days per week, this is a quiet space designed to remove you from daily distractions and to give you space to concentrate on writing. Renting your space includes: Fee: $250 per month (incl. GST), payable monthly in advance. Bookings available for Writing NSW members only. Minimum hire period is 1 month. Shared Writers' Space (long-term)
Refundable bond and key deposit: $250
