Project Horace: an introduction

Although still in early development, Project Horace is a new online publication providing a platform for the presentation, promotion and exploration of emerging and established Australian makers and their work. Featuring audio interviews and photographic profiles of Australia’s contemporary visual artists, craftspeople and designers, Project Horace will provide an insider’s view of creative individuals.

Introducing Peta Mount – I am an arts professional and aspiring writer interested in developing new ways of interpreting the visual arts, crafts and design. Inspired by the Archives of American Art, This American Life and the SBS series Australian Biography, Project Horace aims to contextualise contemporary practice through an investigation into the personal and working lives of Australian makers. It will be driven by the voices of the artists and frame contemporary art and its production through their eyes. I am most interested in engaging with, fostering an appreciation for and promoting Australian art, craft and design through gaining an understanding of the makers and telling stories that describe who they are, what they do and why they do it. I also aspire to developing a significant collection documenting the history of the visual arts, crafts and design that preserves the voices of Australia’s living artists.

The Next Page is the Centres unique mentoring and development program which places emerging creatives (or group of creatives) working in writing within the New South Wales Writers Centre – to support them, provide them with mentoring and networking as well as provide them with development opportunities both within the NSWWC program and through our networks.
