Local bookstores are the old friend in the neighbourhood. They give great advice, are always around for a chat and some of them even make killer lattes and brownies. This Saturday 13th of August is National Bookshop Day and no matter where you are, there is sure to be a bookshop celebration nearby. Support your local, buy up big and have some fun with your friendly and knowledgeable booksellers. We’ve rounded up some events happening across the state – let us know if you hear of any others!

Kinokuniya at the Galleries Victoria in Sydney’s CBD will be a hive of activity on Saturday.
From 11 – 12pm catch bestselling author Satyajit Das discussing the issues raised in his book A Banquet of Consequences. RSVP and more info here

National Bookshop Day at Potts Point Bookshop will be great fun this year, with a line-up of in store appearances, balloons for the kids and an exhibition with local flavour. Simmone Logue will be giving away tasty samples from her new book In The Kitchen and musician, artist and local legend Jeff Duff will be signing copies of his memoir This Will Explain Everything.
