Tyree Barnette
Tyree Barnette is a transplant to Sydney originally from Raleigh, North Carolina, USA. He and his wife Tracina moved to Sydney 7 years ago after she accepted a job in clinical research at Macquarie Park. While here, they have grown their family with two boys: Hampton Tyree, 3 years old, and Miles Isaac, one years old. His day job is as a Career and Employment Advisor at Macquarie University: a role he’s had going on for four years now. Additionally, Tyree has been a member of the Sweatshop Writer’s Group for almost three years where he has written a number of pieces for SBS Life and contributed to their latest anthology called “This Little Red Thing”. Tyree is also one half of Southern Soul, a vegan food stall and catering business started by his wife and mother-in-law. When he’s not at markets, Tyree enjoys writing about his experience as an African-American in Australia and spending time with his two boys.
