In the Honouring Australian Writers series, Writing NSW pays tribute to writers who have made an important contribution to our literary culture. In this event, we paid tribute to Oodgeroo Noonuccal (1920-1993), Australia’s first published Aboriginal poet. As part of the Honouring Australian Writers series, Writing NSW paid tribute to Henry Handel Richardson, the pen name of Ethel Florence Lindesay Richardson. Writing NSW pays tribute to renowned author and political activist Katharine Susannah Prichard (1883-1969). The writer of many major novels, including Working Bullocks, considered the first Australian modern novel, and Coonardoo, joint winner of the Bulletin Prize.

Western Australian writer Randolph Stow was the subject of the Writing NSW event Honouring: Randolph Stow at the NSW State Library on Saturday 29 August 2015. A poet, novelist, critic, and librettist, Stow won the Miles Franklin award in 1958 and the Patrick White award in 1979. This event honours his life and work.

In the Honouring Australian Writers series, we pay tribute to writers who have had a profound impact on Australian literature. In this event, author Felicity Castagna (Small Indiscretions), literary critic Susan Sheridan, author Debra Adelaide (The Household Guide to Dying) and Mark MacLeod, editor, critic and long-time family friend, celebrated Thea Astley. They discuss the person behind the writer and all that she has contributed to Australian literature.
