Talking Writing is our regular themed writing event where we discuss the infinite possibilities of writing.

On Thursday 20 November 2025, we invited debut authors Judi Morison (Secrets), Natasha Rai (An Onslaught of Light), and Kate Horan (The Inheritance) to chat about their pathways to publication, the development of their debut novels, and the reality of being an author.

Throughout the evening, discussed drafting, securing a publication deal, and the editing process. The panellists also spoke about the importance of writing and reading, and how they develop regular writing habits. Attending writers were encouraged to push through the difficulty of rejection to champion their unique voice and the significance of their stories.  

Before and after the panel, over lively conversation attendees enjoyed drinks and nibbles. Everyone seemed inspired and encouraged by the wonderful panellists and their stories.
