Tuesday 5 March: Deadline for the South Coast Writers Centre annual International Women’s Day writing competition. Open to individuals with a lived experience of womanhood, accepting short works of prose (up to 750 words) or poetry (up to 40 lines) on the theme of “progress.”

Friday 8 March: Deadline for Anne Elder Award, a national, annual award for a sole-authored first book of poetry of at least 20 pages, published in Australia. Open to books published between 1 January 2018 and 31 December 2018.
Friday 8 March: International Women’s Day: Power Voice for Balance hosted by the South Coast Writers’ Centre. Anne-Louise Rentell, Aunty Barbara Nicholson and Ali Jane Smith will share their experiences of working on The Siren Project, a theatrical and musical re-imagining of women’s stories from Port Kembla. Saturday 9 March: Halfway Print Fest, a festival celebrating independent publishing, bringing together zine-makers, bookmakers, writers, designers and artists from the region and surrounding cities. Thirsty Crow, Wagga Wagga.
Monday 11 March: Deadline for Woollahra Digital Literary Awards. The Award accepts submissions of a literary nature that are published online or in an electronic form.
Tuesday 12 March: Poetry Night at Sapphos Books, Café and Bar in Glebe. Poetry nights are held on the second Tuesday of every month and have become renowned for their welcoming atmosphere and line-up of well known poets including Les Murray, Gig Ryan, David Malouf and Judith Beveridge. The night usually features three or four poets reading their own work, followed by open mic readings.
