Congratulations to the following Writers’ Centre members, who have recently achieved writing success. Most have published fiction in the last twelve months, varying from historical fiction to short-stories and YA fiction, just to name a few, whilst others are celebrating the news that they’ve been picked up by a publisher. Congratulations to you all and may this just be the beginning with much future success awaiting you!

 

Denis Fitzpatrick has published two short stories with The Short Stories Club: Saving Brodsy, a homage to Denis’ friend of longest standing, Louise Fraser; and So Intimately Entwined, a tale that all animal lovers will enjoy.

Darcy-Lee Tindale placed 2nd in the Stringybark Short Story Award 2014 with her story Shoo. The judges described it as ‘a tale that intrigues’.

Ingrid Banwell’s debut historical novel, The Infidel’s Garden, is now available as an eBook. The Infidel’s Garden tackles issues that persist today, including the religious persecution of women and the clash between faith and science.

Julie Janson’s new novel, ‘The Crocodile Hotel’, has been published by Cyclops Press. Released in April 2015, it will be launched at the Melbourne Writers’ Festival in August.

Susan McKerihan’s book, ‘Clear & Concise: Become a Better Business Writer’, has been published by Penguin Books Australia.

Helen Chebatte is very excited to have her debut YA novel published by Hardie Grant Egmont. Bro will be released in February 2016.

Garry McDougall has been successful in securing a writers’ residency with Arteles in Finland where he will be continuing his novel, developing his photography and writing travel and poetic work based on his prior travel in France, Spain and Portugal. In addition he was also awarded first prize in the Peter Cowan Short Story Prize for his story, ‘Patting the Dog’.

Deb Hunt self-published her first book, Dream Wheeler, in 2014 before being commissioned by Pan Macmillan to write two more books. The first, Love in the Outback, was published in May 2014 and the second, Australian Farming Families, was released May 1st 2015.
