Online Seminar – Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What should I have with me during the seminar?

You might like to have a notebook and a pen with you so you can take notes during the seminar. Alternatively you could open a word document on your computer and take notes there.

Q: Will I be able to ask the tutor questions during the seminar?

During the seminar, you can submit your questions through the Q&A function. At the end of the seminar there will be time for a Q&A. Your question may be answered then.

Q: If I have technical difficulties during the seminar, what do I do?

Unfortunately Writing NSW are not able to provide technical support to participants during the seminar. If you are experiencing internet connectivity issues, you can try closing any background programs you have running on your computer. You can also try leaving the seminar, and then clicking the link again to rejoin and we will re-admit you.

Zoom also have a lot of helpful information on their website, so you can search for your answer there: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/categories/201146643

A requirement of booking into this Zoom seminar is having a secure internet connection and confidence using basic computer software. If you have not used Zoom before but have used similar applications like FaceTime or Skype, you shouldn’t have any issues. Zoom is very user-friendly.

We recommend watching the seminar on a computer or laptop for ease of accessibility.

Q. Will I be able to speak during the seminar?

No. If you would like to comment on the content, you can use the chat feature. If you have a question, you can type it in the Q&A box. Please be respectful to others if using the chat or Q&A. A Writing NSW staff member will be monitoring the chat and anyone who is behaving in a disrespectful way will be removed from the seminar at our discretion.

Q. Will the seminar be recorded?

Yes. If something unexpected happens on the night of the seminar and you are unable to watch it, please email us and we can send you the recording. The recording will only be available for a couple of days. Of course, if you aren’t present during the seminar, you won’t be able to ask any questions.
