Thinking about writing a novel in 2020? Keen to enrol in our popular Year of the Novel course next year, but not sure what you might get out of it, or how best to prepare over the summer?

Then you should come along to our Year of the Novel celebration on Tuesday 12 November, 6:30-8:30pm at Writing NSW, to meet author and course tutor Emily Maguire, and have a chance to mix, mingle, and discuss the novel writing process. The purpose of this evening is to celebrate all the hard work each participant of Year of the Novel 2019 has put in over the last twelve months. You’ll be able to hear participants read extracts of their novels-in-progress, and see how the course has helped them develop their novel over the year.

Emily Maguire is the author of five novels and three non-fiction books, and an experienced teacher and mentor to young and emerging writers. Her novels have been translated into 12 languages and her articles, essays and reviews have been published widely. She is a 2010 and 2013 Sydney Morning Herald Young Novelist of the Year and the recipient of the 2011 NSW Writer’s Fellowship. She is currently Writer in Residence at the Charles Perkins Centre at the University of Sydney.

Her latest book is the novel An Isolated Incident, which was shortlisted for the Miles Franklin Literary Award, the Stella Prize and the ABIA Literary Fiction Book of the Year.
