On Thursday 30 October, the Writing NSW community gathered for Night of Letters, a joyful evening celebrating Australian storytelling and helping us continue our work supporting writers and writing in NSW.
The Writing NSW 2025 Kids & YA Festival on Saturday 9 August 2025 was a wonderful celebration of children’s and young adult literature, attended by over 150 enthusiastic writers at the Rozelle Campus of the University of Tasmania.
The 2023 Boundless Festival consisted of five in-person events between September and December, in partnership with Western Sydney venues.
Curated by festival director Alan Baxter, the 2023 Speculative Fiction Festival program boasted some of Australia’s best fantasy, sci-fi and horror authors, discussing everything from craft and inspiration to publishing and industry.
Congratulations to the successful applicants to our 2023 mentoring program for emerging literary curators from culturally diverse backgrounds: Alejandra Martinez, Greg Page and Simone Amelia Jordan, as well as returning curators Tina Huang and Zohra Aly.
“Boundless is a festival that celebrates our interconnectedness, amplifies our unique voices, brings us together through the power of words.”
We asked the curators a couple of questions before the festival, to provide you with a chance to get to know them and their work better.
We might be staying at home this month, but that doesn’t mean you can’t engage with some fantastic literary discussions! Pull out your laptop and support writers with some of these great virtual events. This list is updated periodically so you can keep up to date with what’s happening in our (digital) literary communities.
There’s plenty happening around the state this March.
So you better get pencilling!
