Writing From Life

Sunday 15 April 2018, 10am-4pm

Writing from life is tricky – how do you transform a personal narrative (your own or someone else’s) into something that interests other people? How do you write from life without being too insularly specific or blandly generic? What are the things you choose to hide and the things you reveal?

This full day workshop will look at writing from life from the perspective of character, plot, dialogue and most importantly, the heart of the story. It will go through a series of short exercises to help you hone in on these skills, so please come ready to write.

They say that truth is stranger than fiction, and if you have a fascinating story to tell but doubt whether you can tell it in a believable and compelling way, this session will help you on that journey.
