Event:

August Write-in (In person)

Saturday 1 August 2026, 10.30am – 2pm

Life, and the stories we make around it, have a natural rhythm: a beginning, a middle, and an end. For many, the beginning and the end are easy — we know where we are and where we want to go. It’s the middle part that’s hard. Do I get there by staying still and letting life come to me, or do I move on, stepping out into new worlds and among new people?

If your story is caught in a difficult middle, take the time to push through at a Writing NSW Write-in. Get a beloved character to break the mould, introduce a new setting, have a tearful farewell. Enjoy these invigorating acts of authorship in the company of fellow writers, and share in the camaraderie of being happily in the middle.

By the way, you can also be writing a beginning or an end — we won’t judge!

Write-ins are quiet writing sessions are held one Saturday a month at Writing NSW (Garry Owen House, Callan Park). Bring your fully charged device (or pen and paper) and join other writers in a series of quiet writing sessions of increasing length. At lunch, chat with other writers or find a quiet part of the park to reset your mind and get ready for the next session. There is no obligation to share your work  – Write-ins are not writing groups. Bookings are essential. To reserve your place click on the event to the right.
