Event: First Friday
First Friday with Anna Featherstone
Friday 2 May, 12.30pm
First Friday, our monthly conversation with an industry professional, is a chance for our community to learn more about the writing and publishing industry. This May, we invite you to our online event with Anna Featherstone.
We’ll examine the transformation from traditional “vanity presses” to today’s digital revolution, uncovering various self-publishing models and why you might choose to self publish. What advantages and challenges do authors face when self-publishing, what are some costs, how important is marketing in a crowded global marketplace, and what level of technological know-how do you need? If you’ve ever thought of publishing your own work, this will be a valuable insight to a rapidly evolving industry.
This event starts online at 12:30pm, via Zoom, and will run for 60 minutes. If there is time, we will take audience questions at the end. First Friday events are free and open to members and non-members, but RSVPs are essential. You can also submit a question for Anna in the ‘Additional Information – Order Notes’ section at Checkout.
Registered attendees will receive a link to access this event prior to the start time.
Anna Featherstone helps writers plan, write, publish, and market their books successfully. A publishing consultant for the Australian Society of Authors (ASA) and the non-fiction advisor to the global organisation the Alliance of Independent Authors (ALLi), she has written five books including ‘Look – It’s Your Book!’, Australia’s most comprehensive guide to self-publishing. An enthusiastic champion of authors – no matter their publishing pathway – she’s also a judge of Australian Business Book Awards and the Australian Society of Travel Writers Awards. When she’s not inhaling books, she’s into bees, beings and the big issues of our times. She also laughs a lot.
