Night of Letters
An evening of words, wine, and storytelling in support of Australian writers
Writing NSW invites you to join us for the inaugural Night of Letters, our major fundraising event for 2025.
A night to remember
For nearly 35 years, Writing NSW has been a spark for Australian writers — providing the support, mentorship, and encouragement that help emerging voices create literary careers.
Now, we invite you to be part of this story.
On Night of Letters, we’ll gather under the jacarandas with a glass of wine in hand before moving inside for an intimate evening of readings. Acclaimed authors will share letters on the theme:
“To the person who inspired me to write.”
Each piece will be a window into the creative lives of writers, celebrating the mentors, characters, and loved ones who have ignited the power of words.
Our special guests
Miles Franklin Award winner Shankari Chandran, Melina Marchetta, Saman Shad and more. Hosted by Michaela Kalowski
With the generous support of patrons including Hachette Australia, Simon & Schuster Australia, HarperCollins Australia, Allen & Unwin, Ali Green and Michelle Laforrest, this evening will be a celebration of literature, community, and the future of writing.
Why your support matters
By purchasing a ticket, you’re doing more than attending a memorable night of stories — you’re investing in the future of Australian literature.
Your support will:
-
Fund mentorships, workshops, and manuscript assessments for emerging writers
-
Provide free and low-cost programs that help writers at every stage of their careers
-
Keep the state’s literature sector vital and thriving for years to come
Writing NSW is a registered charity with Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status, so donations over $2 are tax-deductible.
Can’t attend but still want to help?
If you can’t be with us on the night, you can still support the next generation of writers by making a tax-deductible donation.
