First Friday is our monthly conversation with an industry professional and a chance for our community to learn more about the writing and publishing industry.
Join us in conversation with Chiara Priorelli, Head of Publishing and Acquisitions at Wavesound. Get to grips with the basics of audiobook production, the changes taking place in the industry, and the ways in which audiobooks open new markets, new readers, and new opportunities.
This event starts online at 12:30pm, via Zoom, and will run for 60 minutes. If there is time, we will take audience questions at the end. Chiara Priorelli is the Head of Publishing and Acquisitions at Wavesound, Australia’s leading independent audiobook publisher, the audio partner to key publishers like Allen & Unwin, Affirm Press and Ultimo Press, and the home to some of Australia’s biggest authors including Chris Hammer, Christian White, Helen Garner and Garry Disher.
She previously worked at HarperCollins Publishers and Allison & Busby in the UK before heading up the Wavesound imprint championing ANZ authors. The list covers all genres in fiction and non-fiction with a focus on adult titles, but also top calibre children’s and YA titles. Her role covers selecting and acquiring audio rights to produce the best local titles in audio, the creative production including casting narrators and the relationships with key retail and library distributors.
