Event:

First Friday with Kate Mildenhall

7 October 2022, 12:30-1:30pm

Online, via Zoom

First Friday, our monthly conversation with an industry professional, is a chance for our community to learn more about the writing and publishing industry. This October, we invite you to our online event with Kate Mildenhall, co-host of The First Time podcast.

The process of publishing your first book can be daunting. On The First Time podcast, Kate Mildenhall interviews writers and industry insiders about the emotional and logistical journey of a debut novelist. Kate joins us for First Friday to discuss the ins and outs of hosting a podcast, her favourite moments and biggest challenges, and what she’s learned interviewing her guests about the practice and process of writing and publishing.

This event starts online at 12:30pm, via Zoom, and will run for 60 minutes. If there is time, we will take audience questions at the end. Free and open to members and non-members, but RSVPs are essential.

Registered attendees will receive a link to access this event online immediately prior to the event start time on Friday 7 October.

Kate Mildenhall is the author of Skylarking (2016) and The Mother Fault ( 2020). She co-hosts The First Time, a podcast about the first time you publish a book. She is a regular host at writers festivals and book events and has interviewed authors including Lisa Taddeo, Sarah Winman, Helen Garner, Tony Birch, Liane Moriarty, Jane Harper and many more. Kate lives in Hurstbridge on Wurundjeri lands, with her partner and two children. She is currently writing her third novel and undertaking a PhD in creative process at RMIT University.
