Event:

First Friday with Dr Jan Zwar

3 March 2023, 12:30-1:30pm

Online, via Zoom

First Friday, our monthly conversation with an industry professional, is a chance for our community to learn more about the writing and publishing industry. This March, we invite you to our online event with Dr Jan Zwar, faculty research manager at Macquarie Business School.

What do Australian authors write? How do they publish? How much do they earn? Macquarie University’s 2022 National Survey of Australian Authors investigates the experiences of Australian authors in the contemporary national and international book industry. It examines authors’ experiences of publishing, promotional strategies, changes in income, and copyright infringement. It also examines whether authors are changing their creative and work practices in response to shifts in the industry. Join researcher Dr Jan Zwar, and Writing NSW CEO, Jane McCredie, as they discuss and dissect the findings of this important project.

This event starts online at 12:30pm, via Zoom, and will run for 60 minutes. If there is time, we will take audience questions at the end. Free and open to members and non-members, but RSVPs are essential.

Registered attendees will receive a link to access this event online immediately prior to the event start time on Friday 3 March.
