Writing Groups: Screen and Stage
Back to all writing groupsAllsorts Writing Group
We are a diverse and vibrant group of writers who like to support each other to improve our writing. We meet each month, each of us submitting up to 2000 words of writing for positive and constructive critique in a workshop situation. We are open to all genres of work and encourage supportive feedback in an encouraging atmosphere. Prospective members should contact the Allsorts convenor via Writing NSW to find out more about how we work. Our application form is available here.
Open Genre Writers’ Group
We aim to help each other develop our craft and reach our writing goals through honest feedback, incisive suggestions, and cups of tea. This group is open to anyone who is comfortable reading work aloud for an audience of receptive and supportive peers, followed by open robust discussion. All types of writing and experience levels welcome.
Women Writers Network
We are a combination of prose writers, poets, and playwrights. All at different levels of experience and expertise. All with the desire to become better at what we do. Our group includes women who have just begun to write – those who have had plays produced – novels, memoirs or poetry published – and those striving to be published. The emphasis is on constructive feedback in a friendly, encouraging, but dedicated environment, fostering all stages and all genres of writing. We meet weekly but attendance is flexible. There are usually eight to twelve women at any sitting. If you wish to read you’ll need to limit your prose to about 1000 words and have copies for us to edit as you read. Unless there is great financial hardship, we all put in a gold coin each week. And that’s it really. You are welcome to try us for size – see if we fit.
Zephyrs Screenwriters’ Group
We are a group from all walks of life that meet once a month to talk about screenwriting, film and television. You can bring along your own project to discuss or simply listen to each other talk about theirs. We aim to provide a fun and supportive environment for those looking to further develop their skills in screenwriting.
