Event:

First Friday with Mischa Parkee and Steph Beck

Friday 4 September, 12:30pm

First Friday is our monthly conversation with an industry professional and a chance for our community to learn more about the writing and publishing industry.

Join us in conversation with Mischa Parkee and Steph Beck, founders of the newly opened The Rose Read Bookshop in Sydney. The bookstore is the place where writers and readers first connect – before someone takes a book off a shelf, someone needs to have put it there. But what is the relationship between the writer and the bookshop? Does it only focus on launches and readings? What makes an author stand out for ‘on the ground’ retailers? What motivates people to come in and ask for a book? How do independently published books fit into the system. Join us for a wide ranging discussion about the intersection of writing and reading that is the bookshop.

This event starts online at 12:30pm, via Zoom, and will run for 60 minutes. If there is time, we will take audience questions at the end. This event is free and open to members and non-members, but RSVPs are essential. You can also submit a question for The Rose Read founders in the ‘Additional Information – Order Notes’ section at Checkout.

If you have additional access needs please contact us at info@writingnsw.org.au or 02 9555 9757.

Registered attendees will receive a link to access this event prior to the start time.
