Event:
Night of Letters 2026
An evening of words, wine, and storytelling in support of Australian writers
Thursday October 22, 2026
6.30pm
Writing NSW, Callan Park, Lilyfield
A night to remember
For 35 years, Writing NSW has been the engine room of Australian writing, nurturing emerging voices, mentoring careers, and shaping a thriving future for literature in our state.
Last year, we launched Night of Letters, our major fundraising event, to a sold-out room. This October, we’re back for round two, and we’d love you to be part of it.
Your $100 ticket includes
-
A sparkling welcome reception with wine and canapés under the jacarandas
-
An intimate evening of readings from Australia’s most acclaimed authors
-
Stories and letters shared for the first time on the theme: “To the person who inspired me to write”
-
The chance to connect with fellow lovers of literature and support the future of writing
For less than the cost of a night at the theatre, you’ll enjoy an unforgettable literary experience, while directly investing in the next generation of writers.
Our special guests
Stan Grant, Eleanor Limprecht, Matt Nable, Natasha Rai, Sophie Stern, Jennifer Wong and Fiona Wright. Hosted by Michaela Kalowski.
With the generous support of patrons including Hachette Australia, HarperCollins Australia, Allen & Unwin, Penguin Random House Australia and Michelle Laforest, this evening will be a celebration of literature, community, and the future of writing.
Why your support matters
By purchasing a ticket you’re doing more than attending a memorable night of stories, you’re investing in the future of Australian literature.
Your support will:
-
Fund mentorships, workshops, and manuscript assessments for emerging writers
-
Provide free and low-cost programs that help writers at every stage of their careers
-
Keep the state’s literature sector vital and thriving for years to come
Writing NSW is a registered charity with Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status, so donations over $2 are tax-deductible.
Can’t attend but still want to help?
If you can’t be with us on the night, you can still support the next generation of writers by making a tax-deductible donation.
