This writing course, Small Magic: Kindle Your Creativity with Monikka Eliah, takes place at Writing NSW in Sydney.

Every writer gets stuck from time to time, whether you’re just starting or bogged down with an impossible manuscript.You don’t have to stay there. This is an opportunity to rediscover the magic of writing and enliven your practice.

Small Magic: Kindle Your Creativity is a course designed to help you build a more sustainable writing practice and reignite your joy in creative writing. Whether you’re caught in perfectionism, procrastination, self-doubt or creative burnout, Assyrian writer and visual artist Monikka Eliah will guide you through playful exercises, discussion and reflection aimed at shifting your mindset, fueling your creative energy and making writing manageable.

Along the way, you’ll begin to build a creative toolkit of resources you can draw on those days when you don’t feel like writing. The toolkit includes activities, practices and an artist network. You’ll leave the workshop with revived creative energy, excitement to create , and a collection of practical approaches to help sustain your writing practice beyond the course.

The course will also provide a practical approach to personal exploration encouraging participants to discover their obstacles, their personal writing goals and put together an action small plan.

Expected learning outcomes

In this workshop, participants will:

1. Learn how to identify their individual sources of writing block.
2. Learn how to develop a more sustainable writing routine.
3. Learn how to build a personalised tool kit of techniques and tasks that can be used to overcome times of low energy, low motivation or self doubt.
